TB: Why does poetry matter?
BS: Different poetries matter for different—even contradictory—reasons. What I care for most is the intimate impersonality that addresses an unknown self. Maybe it’s what Novalis was getting at when he spoke of an acoustics of the soul.

e-x-c-h-a-n-g-e-v-a-l-u-e-s: Barry Schwabsky, who is one of my favorite poets, is the most recent interviewee in a collection inspired and carried out by Tom Beckett, a collection of interviews growing to be most impressive (check the links in the sidebar, Y'all).
Hey, fascinating responses, Barry--
and very nice work, Tom: great reading!
--btw, the photo is another of Randy's from the night Sophie was born--nice, eh? : )
