Geez & Wow, Y'All: Read how creepy this article is. What a bunch of crap they are putting this kid through. And justifying it via psychiatric "expertise."--this is Uber-Nazi stuff, ya know?
So, does anything of progressive gains shine through anywhere? Can we do something about these untenable, unbearable conditions of our collective everyday social life (lives)? How, what, when, where?--these are the heuristic cue words for journalistic inquiry. They are also the key word-workings for every kind of incisive critical inquiry. That article makes a most deceptive sham of this honored route to critical inquiry, which is also the moment of discourse in which knowledge can emerge. The child in this story will likely survive. But with what consequences and influences in terms of future interactions of self and other? Do authorities and media ever consider this when dishing out these inflexible ideological formations and agendas? The person who wrote that article, Y'all: REALLY believes that shit. That is only one scary aspect of this (how did that writer get that way in a genre of writing that is supposed to be driven by inquiry not ideological formations).
Well, here's some insight into my own ideological formations: So many things seem lately to be taken and twisted back around to--tell me if I've got some *issues* here--but the same old inflexible U.S. Republican bullshit agendas that would love to assign us all to identifiable compartments easily managed. A condition of Multiple Cs: (c)omplacent (c)onservative (c)onsumers, all drugged up on who knows what (c)rap for multiple (c)onditions via super pharamaceuticals, and unquestioningly consuming all kinds of (c)hemically-rearranged food, as well as driving ourselves (c)razy driving 14 lanes in a fossil fuel vehicles at 75+mph every day but Sunday, when we apparently belong without (c)onsolation or question, opening our ears to some blithering, rhetorically trained preachy idiot full of the religious equivalent of SOQ (this is an excellent example of what Silliman's (c)ritiques bring out or also comb out of the poeti(c) roots: those preachers are so like the (c)omplacent kinds of Billy-you-guessed-it-(see how easily the influences land in your psy--c--he)-(C)ollins.
Imagine, then, what the kid in this (c)ustody battle that the arti(c)le makes a sham example of jurisprudence in, is going through every day and will be ines(c)apably marked by and dealing with from now on, for an entire life.
Why (c)an't people and systems just let folks be whomever in good faith (excepting their ill willed choices) they hope or choose, or simply want to be?
So much for (good faith!) naivete.
